South Bank, a Brisbane Icon.
South Bank has evolved over the past 20 years and emerged as a mixed use urban precinct and one of Australia’s great public spaces.
On the southern reaches of the Brisbane River, South Bank is an example of entrepreneurial development at its best, where community and business co-exist in a strong relationship. South Bank’s transformation has earned it ‘boomtown status’, while Brisbane residents have taken it to their hearts as their ‘icon’.
Things to do.
South Bank is a unique urban lifestyle precinct. Residents and tourists alike can participate in a wide range of activities, from wining and dining to swimming, cycling or enjoying one of the many exhibitions on offer.
South Bank truly is the people’s place, with easy access by car, bus, train, ferry, bicycle, or on foot.
Visitors can arrive via City Cat or cross-river ferry, with terminals for both located on South Bank’s doorstep. Two train stations, South Bank and South Brisbane, and two bus stations, Cultural Centre and South Bank, operate from early morning until late at night. For ferry, train or bus information, call Transinfo on 13 12 30 or visit www.transinfo.qld.gov.au
Taxi ranks are located throughout the precinct, and there are more than 3000 car parking spaces.
